City’s ruleNo general rule: the City lists each holiday that changes collection. On the listed holidays (2025-26: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, all Thursdays) there is no collection that day, Thursday collections move to Friday and Friday collections to Saturday; carts go out by 7 a.m. on the adjusted day. City closure notices for the other 2026 holidays say collections run as normally scheduled.7

How to requestNo booking: one collection week per month per address (find it with the address lookup/app or the 2026 calendar PDF); set out between Thursday and Sunday before your collection week, just behind the curb in front of the home (not in the alley, street or sidewalk, not within 5 ft of carts, mailboxes, meters, poles etc., not under low limbs or power lines). Once per calendar year a 20 cu yd oversize collection can be requested (online, Dallas 311 app or 3-1-1) the week before your collection week, up to Sunday 11:59 p.m. before the collection week; it cannot be cancelled.5
