Quick answer

Who collectsA private hauler under city contract: Republic Services (Daly City office, 1680 Edgeworth Ave.) Republic Services is the City's franchise hauler for residential and commercial garbage, recycling and organics (three-cart system: blue recycle, green compost, gray garbage). The same contract also covers unincorporated Broadmoor. All residents must subscribe to organics collection as part of regular garbage service.1

Daly City holiday trash schedule 2026

City’s ruleRepublic observes only Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Homes whose pickup day falls on one of these holidays are serviced on the Saturday of that week; other days are not affected (Friday service is not affected). Conflict on the same page: the FAQ answer says 'If your collection day falls on or after the holiday, it will be delayed by one day.' The page banner and the Winter 2025 newsletter (Thursday holidays moved to Saturday) agree on the Saturday make-up, so that is recorded as the rule. For 2026-27 both holidays fall on Friday; the banner's main sentence and the FAQ both imply Friday customers move to Saturday, but the banner's 'Friday service is not affected' (written for the 2025-26 Thursday holidays) contradicts that, so no dated 2026-27 entries are recorded until Republic/the City publishes a notice.2
